This is our largest and most luxurious suite. It is on the first floor and has two ensuite bedrooms plus a small lounge area and kitchen. It takes up over half of the first floor
The Roi suites includes:
Marie Antoinette room -a huge, light, airy double room with draped bed and ensuite bathroom. There are two sets of 3 metre high windows overlooking the grounds. Sofa and desk. Ensuite bathroom with shower over the bath.
Louis - twin room with ensuite shower room. Silk lined walls. A 3 metre high window overlooking the grounds. It has a small sofa that can be used as a bed for a small child.
There is also a lounge area and a kitchen with a fridge, microwave, sink, coffee machine, kettle
This takes up all of the second floor, which gives you great privacy. They are attic rooms so they have smaller windows but still have very high ceilings.
The Dauphin suite includes:
Charles VII room - draped king sized bed with ensuite bathroom. Clawfoot bath set in window overlooking the garden. Toilet with wash basin.
Joan of Arc room - 3 single beds and ensuite shower room. There is a sofa that can also be used as a bed for a small child. Includes a small area with a microwave and kettle.
This suite takes up just under half of the first floor. The Emperor suite includes:
Napoleon room - a large double room with a draped bed, sofa and desk. There are two 3 metre high windows with views of the gardens
Josephine room - a silk lined with two draped two single beds that can be made into a King sized bed.
The Napoleon and Josephine rooms share a large shower room. There is plenty of room for a tolley which combines a changing mat with a baby bath.
There is also a small but very versatile third room - it can be used as a kitchen, sitting area or a third bedroom with a fold up bed added to it. It has a sink, fridge, microwave and kettle
It is small but perfectly formed and is designed for families with just one child.
It is also ideal for grandparents who want to come on a family holiday but want to have a good degree of privacy.
The suite is on the ground floor and consists of a small bedroom with an en suite bathroom. There is also a small lounge with a sofa bed and a TV.
The sofa bed has a proper mattress and can be made up as a single bed.
Slightly noiser than other suites as it is right next to the salon on the ground floor.
Meals for those on B&B
Dinner is available some nights at £41/ 45 euro a head for five courses and coffee or tea. Dinner may not be available every night in the quieter season
A typical menu would be fois gras served with a smoked duck salad followed by a trilogy of fish in a Dieppoise sauce. It is then time for a Trou Normand (apple sorbet with local Calvados) followed by a selection of cheeses and then a duo of deserts and finished off with tea or coffee
Whole house bookings
Whole house bookings (six rooms) are from 700 euro a night self catering for up to 12 guests. Utility bills are extra and there is a security deposit that is refunded after you leave. It is also possible to hire the cottages at the same time but the total number of guests on site must not exceed 14 in winter and 20 in summer (this is because Le Castel is not a huge, rambling chateau and experience has shown that those are the maximum number of guests that the property can house comfortably for meals etc).
Whole house bookings on a B&B basis are 870 euro a night for up to 12 guests. There is daily cleaning, no utility bills to pay and no security deposit. There is no use of the main kitchen with the B&B option.
Payments and deposits
Le Castel does not take credit cards, although you can use one via paypal with a service charge.
We also take UK or French bank transfers in sterling or euros.
To confirm a booking we require a 25% deposit or a sum equal to the first night (whichever is greater). This deposit is non refundable, so please consider travel insurance.
Bookings of two suites or more on a B&B basis must be fully paid ten weeks prior to arrival and are non refundable at that stage.
All inclusive bookings must be fully paid ten weeks prior to arrival
Gite bookings must also be fully paid ten weeks prior to arrival.
Cats
Please note that there are two Burmese cats at Le Castel who think they own the place. They are not allowed in the bedrooms but they have free roam of the rest of the place. Please bring pills if you are allergic to cats. However, a lot of people find they have no problems as Kylie and Robbie are short haired and we have leather sofas and tiled floors.
The llamas that feature in many of our press articles are no longer at Le Castel - they have gone off to see llady llamas!
